Privacy Policy
Journey to the East
Effective: August 8, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Paraborn ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information when you use Journey to the East (the "Game"), its accounts, servers, website pages, support, and related services.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, username, account and player identifiers, password in hashed form, authentication tokens, account creation time, and records showing acceptance of legal terms.
- Platform information: identifiers and authentication information supplied by services such as Microsoft PlayFab and supported game or mobile platforms.
- Character and gameplay data: chosen appearance settings, inventory, equipment, currency, skills, experience, health, progression, resources, combat and activity records, friends, ignores, requests, and session status.
- Marketplace data: Silk Road listings, offer type, items, quantities, prices, escrow, completed trades, collected proceeds, and market-price history.
- Communications and moderation data: public chat, private messages, usernames, chat scores, blocked or ignored players, reports, report details, captured message context, moderation results, warnings, mutes, bans, and appeals or support correspondence.
- Technical and security data: IP address, timestamps, request and server logs, session identifiers, errors, diagnostics, and device, operating-system, platform, or application information made available by your device or platform.
- Purchase data: if paid memberships or purchases are offered, product, entitlement, transaction, renewal, refund, and storefront information. Payment providers process full payment-card details; we generally receive confirmation and entitlement information rather than the full card number.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you when you register, play, communicate, make a report, contact support, or make a purchase. We collect gameplay and technical information automatically when the Game communicates with our services. We also receive information from authentication providers, storefronts, and other platforms you choose to use with the Game.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and secure accounts, authenticate logins, and provide password resets;
- operate the game world, save progression, support social features, and match Silk Road offers;
- provide memberships, verify purchases, and manage entitlements;
- filter and moderate communications, investigate reports, enforce rules, prevent fraud and cheating, and protect players and services;
- provide support, diagnose failures, maintain availability, and improve balance and features; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Game, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the legal basis.
5. Chat moderation and reports
Public and private messages may be processed by automated profanity filters, similarity and reputation systems, and the OpenAI Moderation API. Message text and moderation results may therefore be sent to OpenAI for automated safety classification. Messages may be delayed, filtered, recalled, or blocked, and moderation results may affect a player's chat score. Messages and surrounding context may also be reviewed by authorized people when a report or appeal requires it.
Automated moderation can make mistakes. Contact support if you believe a mute, ban, or other significant enforcement action was incorrect.
6. When we share information
We may share information only as reasonably necessary with:
- service providers, including Google Cloud for hosting and logs, Google Workspace and Gmail for account email, Microsoft PlayFab for authentication and platform services, OpenAI for chat moderation, and storefront or payment providers for purchases;
- other players, when a feature is designed to be visible, such as usernames, character appearance, public chat, combat participation, social status, or marketplace information;
- authorized administrators and contractors who need access for support, security, moderation, development, or operations;
- authorities or affected parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent harm, fraud, abuse, or infringement; and
- a successor organization in connection with a merger, financing, sale, reorganization, or transfer of the Game, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not currently use Game data for targeted advertising.
7. Retention
We retain account and gameplay information while needed to provide the Game and for a reasonable period afterward for security, restoration, enforcement, and legal obligations. Marketplace transaction, enforcement, and security records may be retained longer where needed to preserve game integrity, prevent fraud, establish transaction history, or comply with law.
Ordinary chat logs, moderation-cache entries, and undelivered private messages are generally scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Message context copied into a dismissed player report is generally removed after 90 days. Context for open reports or reports where action was taken is generally removed after 180 days. The report record and enforcement outcome may be retained longer without the copied message context. Backups, provider records, or information subject to a legal or security hold may remain for additional time.
When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, encrypted network connections, authentication tokens, and hashed passwords. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access, use the password-reset process immediately.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection; withdraw consent; or appeal our response. Send requests other than account deletion to the address below. We may verify your identity before acting and may retain information where law, security, fraud prevention, transaction integrity, or the rights of others require it.
You may block or ignore players using available Game controls. Service and security emails are necessary to operate your account. If optional marketing is introduced, it will include an unsubscribe method.
10. Account deletion
You may request permanent deletion from the Game's Settings menu. If you cannot access the Game, enter your registered email address below. We will send a one-time confirmation link. Your account is not deleted unless that link is opened and the final deletion is confirmed.
After confirmation, we delete your account credentials, character and gameplay data, inventory, active marketplace listings, chat and private messages, and associated player reports. We may retain limited completed marketplace transaction history, security and enforcement records, support correspondence, and provider records for as long as reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, transaction integrity, disputes, or legal obligations. Database backups may contain deleted data for up to 7 days before scheduled expiration, and legal or security holds may extend these periods.
11. Children
The Game is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate. Players under the age of legal majority must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
12. International processing
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have different privacy laws from your country. Where required, we use appropriate legal safeguards for international transfers.
13. Third-party services and links
Third-party platforms and websites have their own privacy practices. Their policies govern information they collect directly through their accounts, storefronts, applications, or websites. Review those policies before using their services.
14. Changes
We may update this Policy as the Game, providers, or law changes. Material changes will be communicated through the Game, website, account email, or another reasonable method. The effective date above shows when this version applies.
